Recycling in your Community
16/01/2006The Manchester Recycling Consortium is a partnership, which aims to engage the private, community and public sector to encourage and develop reuse and recycling across the City of Manchester.
The Consortium has the vision to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill, whilst supporting the development of Manchester’s waste strategy and stimulating employment opportunities in the sector.
In order to develop Recycling services for the City of Manchester, the Manchester Recycling Consortium is looking to engage partners to raise the profile and engage individuals and organization in reuse and recycling across Manchester. The Manchester Recycling Consortium is established to discuss barriers to development and involve reuse and recycling organisations and those which produce waste in a productive dialogue to address the waste issues in the city in an innovative and positive manner.
The Manchester Recycling Consortium has a dedicated Project Officer, Ross Hemmings who is part of the Waste and Recycling team of Manchester City Council.
The partnership meets by monthly and has a board consisting of representatives from all sectors. A funding officer supports the partnership and the work of Waste and Recycling. The partnership has thematic sub groups which work on specific projects in order to address waste issues across the city.
